Hong Park Kim

Korean hornist Hong Park Kim studied at the Seoul National University under Prof. Young-yul Kim and studied a Master’s Degree and Artist Diploma at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg under Prof. Radovan Vlatković. He completed his Soloist Diploma(Konzertexamen) at the Universität der Künste Berlin under Prof. Christian Friedirich-Dallmann.

Winner of numerous prizes at prestigious competitions in Korea, and he was winning the second prize at the International Horn Society ‘Philip Farkas Award’. Kim also won 1st Prize and Grand Prize of all categories at  Japan Winds and Percussion Competition.

Kim has appeared as soloist with the Oslo Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic, KBS Symphony, Pusan Philharmonic, Korean Symphony, Bucheon Philharmonic, Daegu Philharmonic, among others.

From 2007 to 2010 He was an Associate Principal at the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra led by Maestro Myung Whun Chung and from 2012 to 2015 Kim was a Co-Principal at the Royal Swedish Opera. Kim has been invited to perform as Guest Principal Horn with the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Gothenburg Symphony, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra,Trondheim Symphony, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony, Asia Philharmonic and Malaysia Philharmonic. 

Currently he is a Solo Hornist at the Oslo Philharmonic from 2015 and he has been Horn professor at Hanyang University in Seoul, since 2018.
