Yris Moreno started her musical studies at the youth orchestra of Cumaná, Edo. Sucre, Venezuela, studied horn with Delfino Nuñez from Uruguay and played the horn in local youth orchestra, wind ensemble and the jazz ensemble ’’Libertad’’. She had to stop her horn studies to finish her university career, which was a family requirement. While at University in the city of Puerto Ordaz, she studied harmony and composition with Prof. Rito Mantilla from Colombia, and sang in the school choir. After completing her university degree as a Technologist in Industry Systems, she re-started her horn studies under the direction of Paul Miller in Caracas, Venezuela, and helped to create and maintain the youth symphony orchestra of Puerto Ordaz. That same year, she joined the Caracas Youth Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ruben Capriles, and studied horn with Fernando Ruiz and Javier Aragon.
Ms. Moreno won a full tuition scholarship at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida where she studied horn with Glenn Janson, chamber music with oboist John DeLancie, and played 3rd horn in the Miami Symphony Orchestra. She moved back to Caracas, Venezuela, to take part of the Itinerary Conservatory of Music, created by Beracasa Foundation. There she continued her horn studies for three years with André Cazalet and Joel Arias. She joined the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Symphony Orchestra as a principal horn performing as a soloist and making recordings of Venezuelan folk music and Latin American films soundtracks. She then studied at the Music University of Venezuela (IUDEM).
In 1999, Ms. Moreno studied at the Reyna Sofia School of Music in Spain summer camp, taking lessons with Radovan Vlatkovic, and chamber music lessons Martha Gulyas. While in Spain, she also studied natural horn with Javier Bonet in Madrid.
In March 2000, Ms. Moreno received a full tuition scholarship to study as a long distance student of the University of Florida at the New World School of the Arts. In Miami, she studied horn with Jerry Peel and Greg Miller. In 2001, she joined the Miami Symphony Orchestra as a first horn and freelanced throughout Miami. While in Miami, she also had the opportunity to take lessons from Dale Clevenger and Roland Pandolfi.
Ms Moreno completed her bachelors degree in horn performance in May, 2003 from the University of Florida with honors. She then traveled to Norway to studying the Norwegian language at Rosenhof skole. In November 2005, she started working as a conductor and music instructor at Ammerud Skoles musikkorps (middle school), and Ullevål skoles musikkorps. She then started teaching at Vinderen, Grünerløkka and Grefsen skoles musikkorps, Oslo Musikk og kultur skole, and also as a substitute horn instructor at the Bærum musikk og kultur skole.
In 2016, after experiencing difficult times, she was divinely inspired and recorded her first CD, “In Solitude’’. In creating this CD, she received lessons from Lisa Ford, Principal Horn of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and also received special advice from several great Latin-American musicians, including Jorge Glem, Orlando Cardozo and others.
Comenzó su estudios musicales en la orquesta juvenil de Cumaná, Edo. Sucre, Venezuela, Con el profesor Uruguayo: Delfino Núñez . Aparte de la orquesta juvenil de Cumaná, participó en la banda ”Libertad”, y en el ensamble de jazz de la misma. Debido a requerimientos familiares, pausó sus estudios cornísticos, para terminar su carrera universitaria en la Ciudad de Puerto Ordaz, Edo. Bolívar, Venezuela. Durante su estadía en dicha ciudad, estudió harmonía y composición con el profesor Colombiano: Rito Mantilla; y participó en el coro del instituto, asi como en la banda de conciertos de la ciudad.
Al graduarse de Tecnólogo en Sistemas Industriales, retoma sus estudios de corno con el maestro Paul Miller, en Caracas, Venezuela. Al mismo tiempo, apoyó incondicionalmente con la creación y fundación de la orquesta juvenil de Puerto Ordaz. El mismo año ingresa a la orquesta Juvenil de Caracas bajo la dirección de maestro Rubén Capriles y recibe clases de corno con los maestros Fernando Ruiz y Javier Aragon.
Un año mas tarde obtiene beca completa en la New World School of the Arts in Miami, Fl. Ahí estudió con el maestro Glenn Janson(+) y participó como 3er corno en la Miami Symphony orchestra. Un año mas tarde, regresa a Caracas y forma parte del Conservatorio Itinerante de Música, creado por la fundación Beracasa. Ahí estudia corno por 3 años con el renombrado maestro André Cazalet y con Joel Arias. El mismo año ingresa a la orquesta Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho como corno principal, participando en la misma como solista, y en diversas grabaciones de Cds de música latinoamericanas, asi como de fondos musicales de algunas películas de dicha región. Al mismo tiempo, continúa sus estudios musicales en el Instituto de Estudios Musicales (IUDEM).
En 1999, participa en el primer campamento de verano para cornos de la escuela de música Reina Sofía, en España, donde toma clases de corno con el maestro Radovan Vlatkovic y de música de cámara con la maestra Martha Gulyas. Al mismo tiempo, toma clases magistrales con Javier Bonet en Madrid.
En Marzo del 2000, recibe nuevamente beca completa en la Universidad de Florida como estudiante a larga distancia en la New World School of the Arts in Miami, Fl. Ahi recibe concesión especial para estudiar corno con el maestro Jerry Peel en la Universidad de Miami y con el maestro Greg Miller en la Universidad Internacional de Florida FIU. Al mismo tiempo, re-ingresa a la Miami Symphony orchestra como primer corno y participa como corno extra en diversas orquestas de la región. Durante su estadía en Miami, recibe clases magistrales con el maestro Dale Clevenger y Roland Pandolfi.
Finalmente completa sus estudios universitarios en Florida en Mayo del 2003 con honores. De ahí, viajó a Noruega donde completa sus estudios del idioma Noruego en Rosenhof Skole en Mayo del 2005. Desde entonces se ha desempeñado como instructor de corno en diversas escuelas locales; entre éstas: Ammerud, Ullevål, Vinderen, Grünerløkka, and Grefsen skoles musikkorps, y como sustituto por varios años en la Oslo y Bærum kultur og musikk skole.
En 2016, luego de experimentar tiempos muy dificiles, recibe un divino impulso inspiracional, del que nace su primer disco ”In Solitude”(En Soledad). Como preparación para grabar, recibió clase magistral con la profesora Lisa Ford, corno solista de la orquesta de Gotemburgo; y recibió orientación de excelentes músicos latinoamericanos, entre ellos: Jorge Glem y Orlando Cardozo entre otros.
